Metin Ilke is a second year PhD student in Electronic and Electric Engineering department. He obtained his BSc from Imperial College London in Applied Physics (2015) then MSc from University of Strathclyde in Optical Technologies (Physics dep. - 2016). He joined the CMP during his final MSc project on dual-gas sensing photoacoustic sensors in 2016 and subsequently started his PhD project on the same topic. His research focuses on building rugged, 3D-printed, cheap photoacoustic trace gas sensors using semiconductor laser technology for atmospheric, engine and health monitoring purposes. His supervisors are Dr. Michael Lengden (primary) and Prof. Walter Johnstone (secondary).
