I graduated with an MPhys from the University of Strathclyde in 2015 and then commenced a PhD in the Centre of Biophotonics under the supervision of Prof. Gail McConnell. The PhD was focussed on the development of new super-resolution structured illumination modalities and hardware in order to probe live cell physiological responses and morphology in real time. After the PhD, I continued with a post-doc position in the same lab to work with a novel microscope, called the Mesolens, that is capable of low magnification imaging with high resolution. The project involved works to upgrade the Mesolens confocal scanning capabilities and making use of the large field of view to carry out calcium imaging of a large population of cells simultaneously. In 2020 I have begun a research position in the CMP in order to develop a miniaturised structured illumination microscope making use of 3D printed components and micro-electromechanical systems.
